The patient circuit

Functions provided

The patient circuit allows to measure without gas leakage the breathing of the patient and his various volumes.

Narrative description

The purpose of this circuit is to connect, without possible leakage, a patient with a sensor (pneumotachograph) measuring respiratory volumes.

The mouthpiece is the bond between the mouth of the patient and the pneumotachograph of the spirometer. Between the two a single-use bacteria filter is placed, which avoids the contamination and the clogging of the pneumotachograph. A nose clip supplements the circuit by prohibiting a nasal leakage.

The patient circuit thus includes four parts:

A single-use mouthpiece : The shape of this elastomer end is studied to avoid any oral leakage

A single-use bacteria filter : This anti-bacteria and antiviral element is essential to protect the patient and the whole circuit of the SDX.

A decontaminable adapter placed between the filter and the pneumotachograph (dimensional compatibility).

A nose clip: It allows to prevent that the patient does not breathe by the nose, which would make measurements impossible. It is used for only one patient throughout his treatment.
